What the Hell?!
I know everybody has seen this by now, but what the hell was Zidane thinking?! I'll explain it for you Tammy since you probably didn't see it. Zidane head butted Materazzi (an Italian player) in the chest. They were both talking to each other and then Zidane looked like he was going to leave him alone, but then the head butt happened. He obviously got red carded. That was such a stupid thing to do, and it's especially bad because this is his last game. This will always be remembered, and it's not the way you want to end such an amazing career. And even though I decided to root for France, I really don't mind that Italy won.

On a lighter note does anyone know more about the Camoranesi hair cutting celebration? And haha Gattuso took off his shorts at one point. :p Silly Italians.

Something else that's really been annoying me is the whole Cristiano and Rooney situation. Now we have reports that say Cris wants to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona. I hate that he's basically going to be run out of England. *GRRR* I wonder if the Manchester United fans are also want Ronaldo to go. Because if I was a fan of Man U I'd want to keep Ronaldo on my team. And if it's mostly about his diving well he's been doing that for years.

Ronaldo and Man Utd... he hasn't helped himself by his conduct in this World Cup but way before the England game he said he wanted a transfer to Real Madrid. I'm no fan of Man Utd, but I can't see him having a future there.

And YAY italy... I was rooting for them :D

I guess I'm crazy but I don't think he did anything worse than what he's been doing for Man Unite. But if Real wants him then he should go. It doesn't really bother me.

I started out rooting for France, but I really don't like either team very much so I couldn't root for either team.

Actually I did see it. Someone posted a short video of it on one of the forums I go to. No, its not a good way to end a career which makes me wonder what the Italian said to make him do it. Maybe he accused the French of being slow? LoL.

Oh wait, do you get that joke? :S

I don't see why BJ gets it... It's an inside joke (though I suppose just saying it is funny in its own.)

I was having a discussion with a French Canadian girl (who I didn't like much) about how the French she speaks is different from the French people from France speak. She didn't think it was different at all. So I explained how American-English is different from British-English by saying, "Languages change over time so when people are seperated by distance they change differently" (or something like that). She said it wasn't the same thing (or whatever). I was getting frustrated with her cause she was looking down her nose at me (like she does all the time with everyone) so I retort, "Oh so the French are slow?"

She didn't look very happy and didn't talk to me for a while after that. But a few other girls who were listening started laughing. LoL. This was about the time of "Freedom Fries" so... heh.

Yeh. it's actually an inside joke for me as well. We were having a discussion in my History of Languages class about France french and Canadian french and it was much the same thing, with a girl from Canada in my class thinking her french was so much better than France-french because they're apparently more 'quick to change' in Canada than the actual french are. So our prof jokingly started referring to it as 'french' (meaning canadian) and 'slow french' (in france).

So it was just funny to see you refer to them as slow. :D

What Zidane did is just simply not right. This is football, not rugby. And I can't believe that an experienced player, like Zidane, did such a thing. If Rooney did it, I probably would have understood a bit better.

I also decided not to root for Italy, but after that Zidane-thing, I decided that France should not win. Whatever may happen at work.

I only work at the weekends and fortunately, I got this weekened off. So I won't care (besides, if someone else calls me a Nazis, I'll drag her to the boss if necessary). But I heard they were picking on Germans...well, thank God I'm not there!

Well in a way the Italian guy deserved it...like that Italian was givin him sh** throughout the whole game and he was even pushin zidane's shoulder after zidane had just poped it. And the italian was even squeezing his chest...really gross ay. Like Zidane shouldn't have done that but the guy must have really pissed him off.

Even some of the french players said in their press conference that they wanted to smash that italian guy. Apparently he insulted like Zidane's family or relgion!! So yeh i feel sorry for the guy :(

And I cant believe they used video footage to give Zidane the red care. They didn't use video footage for any other games!! Like seriously if they used video footage in the Australia/Italy game they would have seen that Neil didnt foul the Italian and maybe then we could have won!! sorry the comment is so long lol

Well we don't know what Materazzi said to him, and we'll probably never know the truth. And I hadn't heard for sure if they had actually used the video replay. One person heard that they hadn't shown the play on the screens in the stadium, and another said they did. It's just a big mess. And I'm not defending what the Italian probably said because that's wrong too, but it's just unacceptable what Zidane did. And this wasn't the first time something like this has happened with him. It's such a sad way to end your career. :(

And you never have to apoligize for leaving a long comment. :D

People here say that Materazzi called him an "Algerian asshole" or something like it but througout the game, they said he called Zidanes sister a whore twice and Zidane a terrorist. Gah, I can't believe this.
